Metropolitan Transport Corporation (Chennai – Divison.I) Ltd was established on 1 January 1972 with a fleet strength of 1,029 buses. The operational Jurisdication is the Chennai Metropolitan area. It served 176 routes and had 8 depots, including those at T. Nagar, Adyar, and Vadapalani. Depots at Anna Nagar and K. K. Nagar were established in 1973. The Pallavan Transport Corporation was split into two and a new Corporation, namely, Dr. Ambedkar Transport Corporation Ltd. started functioning from 19 January 1994 for this split Poonamallee Depot were splited buses covers Broadway via Koyambedu, Ambathur, and Redhills are comes under Dr. Ambedkar Transport Corporation Ltd and south-bounded bus broadway via Guindy, Tambaram, and T. Nagar are comes under Pallavan Transport Corporation. Pallavan Transport Corporation was renamed as Metropolitan Transport Corporation (Madras Division –1) Limited, Dr. Ambedkar Transport Corporation was renamed as Metropolitan Transport Corporation (Madras Division-II) Ltd., on 1 July 1997.
In order to make the Corporations viable, and for better administrative control, Metropolitan Transport Corporation (Madras Division II) was amalgamated with Metropolitan Transport Corporation (Madras Division I) Ltd in 10 January 2001. The fleet strength of the corporation at 1 March 2009 was 3,260 with 25 depots, a body building unit at Chrompet, a ticket printing press at K.K.Nagar and Reconditioning Unit at Patullos Road.

Operations: Presently MTC operates Buses in city and suburbs of Chennai and to near by Kancheepuram, Thiruvallur dist.
Head Office : Pallavan House, Anna Salai, Chennai.
Body Building Units: Chrompet, Chennai.

Every Depots have fleet code for their buses and it denotes by its first two letter and the next its series there are 27 depots in MTC for better operation.

Sir,
I am leaving in pathapalayam(vil), near 5 Kms from Gummidipoondi(tk),Thiruvallur(dt),Tamil nadu.
In my village there is no transport facility’s including share AUTO, so we are straggling. so please arrange me government bus to my village.
If we call Auto, they asking Rs.120 to that 5Kms. Nearly 40 – 50 school students are walking every day to school 5 Kms. And old ages are difficult to go hospitals and etc..
It was Gummidipoondi sipcot area route and workers are stragguling to go to there company.

Kind Request from MTC please S15 mini bus extended the route to Kottur (madhya kailash ) or Kotturpuram Bus stand. It is very useful us for kottur and kotturpuram people who can go like kanagam ,Taramani etc .Even this mini bus is very Useful for going Gandhi mandapam.
If S15 Mini Bus extended to Kottur (madhya kailash) or Kotturpuram Bus stand the collection also get very huge amount………..

Dear Sir, We are not having any Minibus to connect Perungalathur to East Tambaram. If this facility can be arranged it will be very helpful for many people. People from different places in Tamil Nadu they get down at Perungalathur. There are many buses to West Tambaram, but very few option to east tambaram. Pls. address this transport need.

Dear Sir, We are not having any Minibus to connect Mugalivakkam (Madananthapuram) to Porur Toll Gate (Via Amma Canteen, Raja Rajeshwari Nagar (XS real Appartment), Santosh Nagar, Suresh Nagar, SRMC Police station, Porur Garden, Iyyappanthangal. If this facility can be arranged it will be very helpful for many people. People from different places in Tamil Nadu they get down at Porur Toll Gate, so pls operate new mini buses and help to us.

Two different routes with same Bus Number in Nanganallur.
The Bus Route 52P operating from Nanganallur Depot has two different routes. One Service is from Nanganallur – Broadway and other Service is from Nanganallur – Koyambedu. But both the Services are having the same route number 52P. This makes confusion when commuters alight bus. On peak hours and rushtime it is very difficult for students and Senior Citizens and generally for all people. We can understand we are travelling in wrong Bus only when the conductor comes and we ask for the tickets.Can the route number be changes to avoid the confusions ?

On 14-06-2016, I was travelling from OMR to Broadway by Exp 221H Bus no: CDI 1846.
But the Bus was in worst condition
1. Both the side Door’s frames were totally broken
2. Back side door lock frame was hanging {due to this anyone could have got injured]
3. Some seats were in damaged.
Even when a MTC bus is running in such conditions how people will travel?

There are no services for connecting the Northern regions Villivakkam, Perambur, Ayanavaram, ICF with the GST route Pallavaram, Chrompet, Tambaram. Considering this would be very useful

PP21 route from broadway to guduvancherry -via beach,adyar,guindy,tambaram is withdrawn before 6 months. suddenly now B21 route from Broadway to Guduvancherry via beach, adyar perungudi, pallavaram radial road, tambaram also with drawn.
there is no service via adyar, guindy to reach tambaram can you introduce new route from Besant nagar to Vandaloor it will be useful
