Kalavai is a town in vellore dist , area with more temples like Karivaradharaja Perumal temple, Thirukkarisanadhar temple (kottai Koil) , Sankaraa madam , Angalaparameswari amman temple , Kamalakkani amman temple , Subramanya swamy temple.

It is a village of historic importance from the time of the Pallavas in the 8th century. Ancient relics and inscriptions relating to the village are found in the local Shiva temple named Thirukkaraesvara temple. Probably the temple was built by one Thirukkarai & hence the name Thirukkaraesvara. It is well known for agricultural activities like paddy , groundnut & oil , sugarcane etc.

This is a wonderful route which covers 5 districts in just 105 kms. .

Starts from cmbt ( chennai dist ) & immediately enters NH 4 on maduravoyal (thiruvallur dist ) stretching upto poonamallee & then kanchipuram dist on NH , after kanchi it reaches VEMBAKKAM ( Thiruvannamalai dist & finally comes Kalavai ( vellore dist).

  1. This route no 137 is allowed by TNSTC VLR from CHENNAI to VALAPANDAL via Kpm, kalavai and Mambakkam. After that TNSTC Kpm and tvm are taken over this route. Finally now TNSTC tvm is operating this route between CHENNAI and kalavai by avoiding VALAPANDAL. I request concern offials to operate this 137 route between CHENNAI and VALAPANDAL.

  2. This route belongs to Chennai to Valapandal Via Kalavai prevoiusly operated by TNSTC VLR and KPM. But TNSTC cut short the route between Kalavai and Chennai.
