New buses commissioned to link small towns in Ooty

They will ply to places like Mukkimalai, Emerald Valley and Thumanatty
For convenient transport: Khadi Board Minister K.Ramachandran inspecting a bus which he commissioned in Udhagamandalam on Tuesday.
Udhagamandalam: Ten new buses joined the fleet of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) here on Tuesday.
Setting them rolling, the Khadi Board Minister K.Ramachandran said that they will ply between Ooty and Ebbanad, Kadanad, Mukkimalai, Thataneri, Araihatty, Muttinad, Emerald Valley, Nunthala, Thumanatty and Kottaty.
Stating that 38 more buses would be added to the fleet shortly, he said that already 105 new buses had been given to the Nilgiris division.
Later, participating in a mass contact programme at Sholur Mattam near Kotagiri, Mr.Ramachandran said that petitions for assistance would be given due importance.
The Nilgiris Collector Archana Patnaik, who presided, urged the people to make use of various schemes.
Stating that people should extend their cooperation to the officials who are now involved in the census operations, she said that applications for Electors Photo Identity Cards will be processed within 15 days.
MLA A.Soundarapandian also spoke at the function.
The District Revenue Officer S.Kuppusamy welcomed the gathering.
The Revenue Divisional Officer, Coonoor P.Gandhimathi, proposed a vote of thanks.
Later, Mr.Ramachandran distributed welfare assistance worth Rs. 8.23 lakh to 62 beneficiaries and flagged off a Dheenatty-Mettupalayam bus service.
