Tuticorin: Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation has launched non stop bus services (by-pass rider) from Tuticorin to Madurai and from Madurai to Tuticorin to minimize the duration of the journey. S. Murugan, General Manager, TNSTC, Tirunelveli, told ‘The Hindu’ here on Wednesday that two buses with cushion seats would ply from Tuticorin to Madurai.
Similarly, two buses would start from Madurai and ply to Tuticorin. The bus fare is Rs. 56.
“The highway rider in Tuticorin starts at 6.05 a.m. and at 2.15 p.m. everyday. In Madurai, the buses start at 9.15 a.m. and 9 p.m. on return. Unlike other bus services, the newly introduced buses will skip entering into Ettayapuram (Tuticorin District) and Aruppukottai of Virudhunagar District. As far as duration of the journey is concerned, the buses are expected to reach the destination points within three hours,” Mr. Murugan said.
Similar non stop bus services were plying from Tirunelveli to Madurai.
The buses from Tirunelveli start at 6 a.m., 12.45 p.m. and at 9.30 p.m. Likewise, from Madurai, the buses start at 9.15 a.m., 4 p.m. and at 12.45 a.m. “If the construction works of mini bridges on the NH – 45 are completed soon, the duration of the journey will be even more lesser,” S.
